Ted Witham is an Anglican priest with many years experience in parish and schools. He is a Franciscan tertiary, and this spirituality permeates his thinking. He lives with chronic pain, and this has meant that he has retired early, and can spend more time on writing.
He lives in the gloriously beautiful south west of Western Australia among the beaches and vineyards that make the area famous – and healing.

have good memories of the time you spent at Hale School in 1976, whilst the incumbent chaplain was on leave. I remember you talking about odd things like social justice and simple living. It was an unusual experience, having a genuine Christian teaching religious education at a ” church school”

How good to hear from you after all these years. I enjoyed my time at Hale, but you’re right that there were times when I was singing a different song than the School values.
Where are you now ? What have you done since school?
Scott is near Darwin running a beef and tourist station. He’s generally happy but still recovering from the unexplained death of Benji his son, at 16, three years ago. These tragedies mark us.

I’m finishing an independent hymnal project (515 hymns/chants), and have included your “We Praise You, God, For Your Great Saint” for St. Elizabeth of Hungary.
Might I have permission for its use? It is credited in the copyright page.
I should mention: I did abridge the poem by trimming the total stanza count (I mainly left out the content more specific to Australia). I didn’t change any writing within stanzas themselves.
And in footnotes for person details, I only have your “dates” as (“19??-). I can keep it mysterious, but if you like, I could include year of birth. The footnotes do indicate that the poetry is abridged.
